I’ll just start when I’m still human and 14.
I’m bored like on any regular day. It’s hot, really, really hot. I feel like a human waterfall I’m sweating so much, and I’m just lying on the COUCH!! I’m home alone right now. My sister is at a friend’s house and my mom and dad are at work. Unfortunately for me, all my shorts are in the wash and I’m not allowed to wear just a tank top so I feel hotter because of layers. I get up and turn on my Wii. I browse through my games; I don’t really feel like playing video games so I put on Netflix™. I wave my remote around trying to find something good to watch and trust me, there isn’t a lot. I settle for my favorite show called H2O.
A few minutes into the show, the screen starts to glitch a bit. They must be having a bad connection day today. It stops, and then starts again. I’m just surprised I haven’t gotten the ‘connection lost’ notice yet. The screen flashed white then turned black “What the heck?” I say to thin air; I do that a lot when I’m alone. The screen flashes again and I’m in some weird virtual reality place. I have no idea way I’m not screaming. Then I realize I’m floating. And then I black out.
I wake up in a pitch black room. A screen flashes on and a person appears the funny thing is that I recognize him. He looks like the villain in Sonic the Hedgehog. “Well, you’re finally awake,” He says this in a weird tone though my senses aren’t really clear so he could’ve said this normally. “Time for introductions, I’m Doctor Eggman, and you are?” It took me a little while to realize he was talking to me. “A…Alexis…” I whispered. I was surprised that he heard me; he must have microphones in here. “If you’ve been wondering, you’ve been unconscious for about three days and I’ve been hospitable to you. Now I need you to do me a favor.” It sounded like he was trying to get the better side of me. I just stared dumbly at the screen. “My robots will come down to get you.” The screen turns off and light floods the room. Well I was right about the microphones, there are also cameras.
Part of the wall opens up and two robots come out. I back up towards the wall. “Great, you scared her!” the tall one says. “Me! You’re the one that would make a lion turn around and look for another kill!” the shorter one says. I held back a laugh because that comeback was awful! “Um… could you guys tell me where I am?” I ask shyly. “That’s classified information Miss. Please come with us” The tall one says dismissively. I crossed my arms. “I’m not going anywhere with two robots until I know where I am.” I said stubbornly “Fine! You are on Dr. Eggman’s ship. Will you please follow us!?” He marches out. The smaller one just shrugs and follows his partner. I’m hesitant to follow but I do any way.
We pass several other corridors and doors. One caught my eye; it had a blue and yellow light coming from it. I tapped the short robots shoulder. “What’s in there?” I ask him. His eyes shift from his partner ahead of us to me to the door. “Um… that’s um….” He looks nervous. “That’s OK, I’ll just see for myself” I walk over to the door. He tries to block my line of vision but he’s too short. I look inside the window and see the prettiest gems I’ve ever seen. One was blue and one was yellow. They were placed in spaces perfectly fit for them. They could fit perfectly in the palm of my hand. “They are pretty aren’t they?” someone said behind me. I turned around and saw Dr. Eggman. “There are seven total, and when put together they create a mass of power called-” I turned around to face the glass “Chaos control” I finished. Dr. Eggman’s expression was shock but he quickly changed his emotions. “Follow me please” He walked away. I turned towards the robot; he had a look of terror on his face. “What’s the matter?” I ask him. He looks up at me. “Oh, it’s just that, well I could’ve gotten in big trouble for showing you that room. I probably am...” I look at him and felt a little sympathetic for him. “Oh well I’ll tell him not to punish you,” I say smiling. Relief floods his face.
After walking a little while, I ask him what’s on my mind. “So, why does Dr. Eggman have two…um….gems?” I knew what they were called but I remembered the look on Dr. Eggman’s face in the glass and decided to not show that I knew anything more about this place. “Well, see, the Doctor is trying to rebuild his kingdom. But there are others who would rather have destruction then peace. So the only way the Doctor can fulfill his plan is using the, um… Gems” I nodded. I didn’t really trust this robot completely though. What person going for a diplomatic type of country goes to the extremes of possible tearing apart civilizations and ways of life?
We enter a pace that looks somewhat like a laboratory, with machines, lights, and wires all over the place. The tall robot shoved me into a glass cylinder and shuts the door. I pressed my hands against the glass. Great…I thought. “What are you doing?” trying to keep the panic out of my voice. “Letting you join my army for world domination!” Eggman shouted. He flipped a switch and a light flashed. There was a huge bang and then everything stopped. It felt like an electric current had gone through my body. My legs were shaky. I heard a voice scream ‘no’. But that could’ve been in my head, I fell onto my knees. I heard the voice again ‘Hey look, I don’t think she’s hurt or a robot…’ I looked up, I couldn’t really see, everything was blurry but I made out three figures, I guess somewhat small. One was blue, one was red and the last was a yellow orange. The blue one knelt down in front of me.
A ringing filled my ears; I covered them trying to block the sound but my ears weren’t on the side of my head and my hair felt different. I felt my hair, it felt like dreadlocks but not human. I felt around my head for my ears. I felt the top of my head and felt… cat ears!? I almost screamed but whom or whatever the blue figure was covered my mouth and I think put a finger to his mouth. “Sonic, we have to go, like now!” a kids voice said, I think it was the yellow orange figure being the shortest out of the three. “I know Tails, lemme just make sure she’s OK.” The blue one said in response. He (I think it was a boy,) grabbed my hand and flipped it over. “Sonic, she’s fine let’s get outta here!” a deeper voice said, at this point it was the red one. “Calm down Knuckles.” He said to the red one then he addressed me “You OK?” My vision was clearing up a bit and I could make out his facial features and they were not human. “Mentally, I wasn’t sure before so I’ll just say yes. Physically, I can’t stand so overall, sure I’m fine.” I said trying to stay calm. He laughed softly. “Sonic quit flirting with her and let’s get out of here!” the red one said more urgently. “Fine,” he said “Do mind if I carry you since you can’t stand?” he asked me. I was a little hesitant, but then said “Yes…” He picked me up swiftly. “You mind going fast?” He has a smile on his face like he was entertained be me somehow. I looked at him with what I hoped was a confused look. He laughed again. “This fast,” He said reading my mind.
He took off and fast. I mean wicked fast. I think this speed wouldn’t even be on a cop’s speedometer, more like scientist radar for speed. He stopped running or flying or whatever the heck he was doing to reach that speed. I didn’t realize it, but I had clung myself to him. The yellow orange one and red one caught up to us. The little one looked a little like a fox, except with two tails. I don’t really know what the red one looked like; he had long ‘hair’ and a white ring above his chest. He wore boxer gloves with two spikes. I looked up at the blue one, I guess in a sense, he looked like a hedgehog. “Tails, you have your plane ready?” the blue one asked the little fox. “Yep,” he said in response. A trap door opened beneath us and we fell. I screamed. Then we landed on something metal. I had closed my eyes. “We’re OK,” It sounded like the hedgehog. I opened my eyes, we were on a plane. Or, on the top of one. “You don’t mind riding outside do you?” The hedgehog asked me. “Um, that depends, whose flying?” A voice came on. They must’ve had radios coming to the outside. “Sonic, sit down or get on the wing because I need to see.” It sounded like the fox. “Sure Tails” he sat down on the nose of the plane while I’m still in his arms. “I’m Sonic by the way,” he said to me. “Alexis.” I said back. He nodded. We were silent for a little while.
“So, where are you from?” He asks me. “Since I think I’m on a different planet, I’m from Earth.” He looks at me funny. “What?” I ask. He shakes his head and smiles “Nothing”.
